Liberty advises the management team of Perspective Financial Group on their acquisition by Charlesbank Capital Partners
Liberty Corporate Finance is delighted to announce that we have advised Perspective Financial Group, an independent financial adviser with operations across the UK on securing new private equity backing from Charlesbank Capital Partners, a Boston, US-based firm that originally oversaw private equity investments inside the Harvard University endowment and became independent in 1998.
Founded in 2008, Perspective Financial Group has £8bn in assets under advice and provides financial planning, as well as investment management services through its Cambridge affiliate.
The group is led by a management board including chief executive Ian Wilkinson, CFO David Hesketh, and CRO Julie Hepworth, who work alongside approximately 500 employees, 140 of whom are financial advisers operating out of the group's 40 offices across the UK.
Charlesbank Capital Partners will succeed Perspective's current private equity investor, CBPE Capital. The management team will remain significant shareholders alongside Charlesbank.
Perspective has completed more than 80 acquisitions since its 2008 launch, including in excess of 45 since CBPE invested in 2019.
When we were acquired by CBPE in December 2019 the management team didn’t engage any dedicated advisers to specifically act on our behalf and when Liberty were introduced to us as concept, we decided to engage them, which was extremely beneficial to us in lots of ways, including creating a bridge between us and the new potential owners, which allowed Liberty to negotiate the best commercial terms for us, without us feeling that we were being overly demanding with a firm that we will be working with for the next 4-5 years.
